WISHING WELL, gift suggestion or note on gifts WORDING
It can be awkward, asking your guests to give you a gift of money as your wedding gift, instead of a traditional wrapped wedding gift. But, feel assured it is becoming the norm to do this, especially as many couples already live together and have a houseful of things and don’t feel the need for anymore house hold gifts.
I do find most guests do like to know what you may put the money towards, I suppose they don’t want to feel as though their paying for your wedding or their seat at your wedding. So let them know if your doing a honeymoon fund, future travels or even towards a big purchase like a house, piece of art etc…
WISHING WELL ETIQUETTE
What’s the correct way to do this?
It is not polite to write your wishing well directly on your invite, especially on the front of the invite, where you are inviting them. Try and put your Wishing Well, Gift Suggestion, Note on Gifts on a separate card. If budget is tight, pop it on the back and don’t forget to have a table set up at the reception, clearly marked where your guests can leave their money gift and to send your guests a thank you card, after all it is still a gift.
