Save The Dates

Save the Date cards are a great idea if:

  • You have longer than 12 months between your engagement and wedding day
  • You are inviting overseas guests to your wedding
  • You are having a location wedding
  • You are planning to marry during December and January or on a public holiday

Save the Date cards are usually sent 6 to 12 months before the wedding date. This gives guests time to organise travel and accommodation arrangements, and gives the bride some time to breathe!

Save the Date cards don’t have to tie in with your wedding theme. Have some fun with them, but make sure they contain the information your guests will need, such as:

  • The date and location of your wedding
  • Website details for booking accommodation
  • And, or course, your names!
  • Also make sure you add a line that reads “Formal invitation to follow.”

Some design ideas include:

  • For location weddings, use a postcard of your chosen destination or a photo of the two of you there, and include tourist information for your guests
  • Take a photo of the two of you holding a “Save The Date” sign and use this on your card
  • Make a mini calendar with your wedding date circled
  • Add a magnet on the back so your guests can keep it on the fridge
